Cigar Ash Was Once Used in Art
Back in the 19th and early 20th centuries, cigar ash wasn’t just tossed aside—it was actually used by artists and craftsmen as a material for creating paint, ink, and even polish.
Mixed with oils or water, fine cigar ash produced a soft gray pigment that artists used for sketching and shading. It was especially popular for charcoal-style drawings, giving them a unique texture and depth.
